Francesc Peirón Arqués (Barcelona, 1962) studied journalism at the Autonomous University of Barcelona. He began working for La Vanguardia in 1986. He has always been on the front lines of reporting. He began as a specialist in court reporting and current affairs; then he worked the local beat and finally made the leap to foreign correspondent. At that time, he had traveled to many countries, but had never felt a special attraction for the United States. Until, in 1997, he received an invitation to take part in a State Department program. And he discovered America. His final stop was New York, and that was where everything began. In the summer of 2009, he moved to the city, and has since been a correspondent for La Vanguardia based there.
